Performance and Durability

FCFVA Takes The JJRC Q130 For A Spin At The Park

Equipped with a powerful 4000KV brushless motor, the JJRC Q130 is designed for speed and acceleration. The proportional control gives a responsive feel, allowing you to handle the truck smoothly whether accelerating on straight paths or maneuvering around curves. One highlight was its ability to accelerate quickly, showcased in my YouTube short video where I pushed it through grass with ease, emphasizing its capability on uneven terrain.

In the past two months, I’ve had five high-speed crashes and multiple flips—some due to pushing the truck’s limits on challenging terrain. Despite this, the Q130’s build has been surprisingly robust. The plant differential design improves handling and reduces wheel spin, helping it maintain stability even after several crashes.

However, the front/driver-side wheel assembly recently failed during a night session, scattering parts across the ground and causing a temporary halt in my RC activities. While I retrieved most of the components, a wheel bearing went missing, underscoring the need for easy access to replacement parts, especially for users who plan to push the truck to its limits.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery life is around 15–18 minutes, which is decent for a truck in this price range and speed category. The 7.4V 1500mAh Li-ion battery provides consistent power output throughout the run, though I’d recommend buying an extra battery for extended play sessions. Charging takes around 3 hours, so having a spare battery is a practical way to extend your sessions without waiting.

Handling and Control

After 4 Charges, RC/Transmitter Experienced Issues (Truck experienced major radio issues). Fixed by swapping throttle module with High/Med/Low module.

The 2.4 GHz transmitter offers a reliable connection up to 120 meters, which is more than adequate for a 1/14 scale vehicle. The proportional control allows smooth speed adjustments, making it easier for beginners to handle high speeds without losing control. The steering servo is responsive, though, given its smaller size, it doesn’t perform as sharply on loose surfaces, which could be a consideration for those looking to drive on sand or gravel.

Visual Appeal and Build

With LED headlights, roof lights, and tail lights, the Q130 has a visually appealing look, especially for night runs. The design is sleek, with a rugged exterior that feels sturdy in hand. Tires are made from quality material, and I found the truck handles rotations well, having rotated the tires twice without issues.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High-speed performance up to 70 km/h
  • Sturdy build with impressive crash durability
  • Bright LED lights for night driving
  • Easy handling with proportional control
  • Decent battery life and control range

Cons

  • Long charging time (3 hours) for short use (15-18 minutes)
  • Wheel assembly is prone to loosening under heavy use
  • Limited availability of replacement parts in certain areas

Final Verdict: Ideal for Beginners and Hobbyists

The JJRC Q130 B Brushless RC truck is an excellent starter RC for hobbyists wanting speed and stability without sacrificing durability. While minor part failures and limited battery life may be points for improvement, the Q130 provides a thrilling, durable experience for its price. I look forward to resuming my RC activities once the replacement wheel bearing arrives, and I recommend this model for anyone looking to dive into RC cars with a mix of speed and ease of handling.
